Welcome back to The Confidence Edit. Today, we are having an honest conversation.
Even the most confident women have them. You wake up, look in the mirror, and suddenly, nothing feels right. Your favourite trousers feel tight, your skin feels uncomfortable, and your inner critic is screaming. We call these "Bad Body Image Days."
As your Empathetic Stylist, I want you to know: You are not alone, and you are not broken. These days are normal. But they shouldn't dictate your happiness.
Here is my gentle guide to navigating the days when the mirror feels like an enemy.
First, take a deep breath. Remind yourself that your body has not drastically changed overnight. What has changed is your perception. Stress, hormones, and fatigue can distort how we see ourselves. Treat this feeling like a passing weather system—it is raining right now, but the sky is still blue behind the clouds.
On these days, the physical sensation of clothing is everything. Do not force yourself into structured waistbands or rigid denim. That is a recipe for disaster.
Instead, practice "Sensory First Aid." Reach for fabrics that feel like a hug—our soft viscose-jersey or fluid knits. Choose an outfit that moves with you, not against you. Comfort is the quickest bridge back to confidence.
Decision fatigue makes bad body image days worse. I recommend curating one "Safety Outfit" in your wardrobe. This is a look you know works, no matter what.
• Example: Your favourite Bella leggings, a long-line tunic, and a bright scarf.
When you are having a tough day, don't experiment. Grab your Safety Outfit. It’s your armour.
If you can’t love your reflection today, focus on function. Thank your legs for carrying you. Thank your arms for the ability to hug someone you love. Shift your attention from how your body looks to what your body does.
Be gentle with yourself today. You are doing the best you can, and that is more than enough.
Fashion is Confidence. Wear It Daily (Even on the hard days).
