Welcome back to Bella Voices. Today, we are opening the mailbag.

At Bella plus London, we don't just design clothes; we listen to the women wearing them. We know that shopping online can sometimes feel like a gamble, especially when you are navigating the nuances of a plus-size fit.

So, we gathered our design team to answer the three most common questions we receive in our DMs. Here is the Empathetic Stylist’s take on solving your fit dilemmas.

Q: "I carry most of my weight in my tummy (Apple shape). I want to be comfortable, but I don't want to look like I'm wearing a tent. What do you recommend?"

A: This is our most popular question! The secret is to look for "Fluid Structure." Avoid shapeless sacks. Instead, choose our Empire Line dresses or A-line cuts. These silhouettes gently nip in at the narrowest part of your ribcage (just under the bust) and then flow elegantly over the midsection. You get definition without restriction, celebrating your shape rather than hiding it.

Q: "I am plus-size but petite (short). Long dresses often swallow me up. How can I wear the midi trend?"

A: You can absolutely wear midi lengths! The trick is showing skin at the extremities. Ensure the dress ends at the slimmer part of your calf or ankle, not the widest part. Also, opt for V-necklines to elongate your torso and consider ¾ length sleeves. Showing a bit of wrist and ankle breaks up the fabric and balances your proportions beautifully.

Q: "I’m between sizes (e.g., a 18 on top and a 20 on the bottom). How do I choose?"

A: We always recommend fitting the largest part of your body first. If you are pear-shaped, buy the size 20 trousers to ensure a smooth drape over the hips, and then have the waist tailored (or rely on our "Waistband Win" elastic!). For dresses, look for our wrap styles—they are the ultimate adjustable garment, allowing you to customise the fit across the bust and hips independently.

Have a specific question? We are always here to help you find your perfect fit.

Your unique style, celebrated. That's Bella plus London.
